
Psychiatric services are offered at The Windham Center, a 10-bed inpatient unit. Along with serving residents of Vermont, the facility also provides care to individuals from Sullivan and Cheshire counties in New Hampshire. Our programs offer treatment for individuals 18 years of age and over.
Referrals to The Windham Center are invited from crisis teams and emergency departments.
We accept payment from private insurers, Medicare and Medicaid. Financial assistance is available for those who are income eligible. Individual financial arrangements are also available for those in need.
In the event of an emergency, please report to the nearest emergency room.

Our Program – The Windham Center for Psychiatric Care
Patients are encouraged to participate in the wide variety of skill building and practice groups that Windham Center offers daily. These groups include, but are not limited to:
- Medication Education
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy groups
- DBT skill groups (mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation)
- Sleep hygiene
- Leisure skills and activities
Our multi-disciplinary teams include psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, social workers, nurses and mental health workers. Our staff is dedicated to helping people with:
- Adjustment Disorder
- Anxiety Disorder
- Bi-Polar Disorder
- Co-occurring (Mental Health & Substance Use) Disorders
- Depression
- Personality Disorders
- Post-traumatic Stress Disorders
- Psychotic Disorders

- Daily Psychiatric Evaluation
- Initial Psychosocial Assessment
